
The 2026 LA mayoral primary takes place today, June 2, 2026. This vote allows residents to choose the leading candidates for mayor. If no candidate wins more than half the vote, the top two candidates will advance to a runoff election on November 3, 2026. Los Angeles faces big challenges, including homelessness, public safety, and economic recovery. Many of those impacted by the 2025 Palisades and Eaton wildfires have still not been able to rebuild their homes.
