Persistence is essentially the heart of the spiritual journey. There is a profound difference between a “perfect” walk and a “faithful” one. The pattern of spiritual life is often not “never failing,” but “never fully turning away.” Coming back again and again is not hypocrisy when the return is genuine. It is part of what repentance actually looks like over a lifetime.
