When Jesus says, “Take up your cross, and follow Me,” He is not inviting us into misery but into transformation. The cross is not a burden we choose; it is the place where our old selves are surrendered so that Christ can lead us into new life. To take up the cross is to trust the Shepherd’s voice more than our fear, to walk with Him even when the path is narrow, and to believe that every valley we pass through with Him becomes a doorway to resurrection.
