People in society today are suffering from hardened hearts. The value of a person has been determined by what others perceive as their contribution, or lack of contribution to society. In today’s world we have made people disposable. We see it in the way we treat others starting with the unborn, the handicapped, the elderly, and now moving on to people who do not agree with our thoughts and views. We have people dying in the streets, yet somehow these deaths are too often justified or accepted without any recourse or action. Pope John Paul II once said:
“If you want peace, work for justice. If you want justice, defend life. If you want life, embrace truth”
Are there injustices in this world? Absolutely and until we all “soften” our hearts and start accepting others for who they are, we will struggle to find peace and common ground. We must restore the sanctity of life within the hearts of society. Thanks to abortion, euthanasia, and capital punishment we have devalued human life and now we have many people out there who must shout to the world that their lives matter. We see “Black Lives Matter” prominent today, as well as “All Lives Matter”, and I have seen “Babies Lives Matter”. I came across a meme that I published earlier today that I think sums things up extremely well:
Now more than ever, we need Jesus to come into our hearts to “soften” them, to help us to value all human life again, and work together to fight injustice in the world. In Jesus’ world we live and work for each other. Unfortunately, that’s not happening enough today. Please invite Jesus into your heart and bring to prayer your plea to restore the value of life, and for all of us to work together to fight injustice leading to the peace that eludes us.
